by kojocraft 11 ingredients 12 steps

Oyakodon (親子丼) literally means parent-and-child donburi, i.e., Japanese chicken and egg rice bowl. It is a classic Japanese meal in which chicken, egg and onion are simmered together in a sweet and salty sauce made with dashi, soy sauce, and mirin, and then served on top of steamed rice. Oyakodon is very popular in Japanese restaurants. The technique to cook it is actually very simple. Simple cut chicken and onion, simmer under the sauce, then add the egg, it can be ready in 20mins. The tender chicken, soft onion and eggs are immersed in umami sauce with fluffy steamed rice at the bottom, it makes people craving for more bites.
