It’s always fun experimenting with different flavor combinations and seeing how they pair. Figs and fish sauce don’t sound like they’d work but I was pleasantly surprised and that’s what it’s all about. Next time, I’d probably add some nice chunks of cucumber for an added textural component. I encourage you to break free from the bindings of a recipe and instead use your intuition/pallet to create your own!
