The ultimate comfort food. Burekas for Israelis are like the equivalent of pizza for New Yorkers and by that I mean they can be eaten in any occasion. Breakfast, mid day snack or late night munchie. And just like pizza toppings the options for fillings are endless. Potato, cheese, olives, mushrooms, they even have pizza burekas. I remember thinking about burekas half way through the school day or judo practice, knowing that on my walk home my mom and I would stop by the bakery to pick a few up.
