Several years ago I started heating up my cast iron skillet and adding butter to the pan before adding the cornbread batter. The result is a delicious buttery crust all around the edges of the cornbread. That little something extra of pre-heating the pan, turns ordinary cornbread into extraordinary cornbread. One of the best tasting things you will find this side of heaven.
