Hong Kong French Toast with a fall twist, incorporating pumpkin, spice & everything nice! The recipe starts with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Brioche Twist. If you’re unfamiliar with this fall gem, it’s buttery, light & full of pumpkin spice; each slice has swirls of flavor. Three slices are slathered with a homemade salted pumpkin cream cheese spread. My recipe makes enough for this Hong Kong French Toast & then some––so reserve the rest to enjoy on a bagel or simply eat as-is, no judgement. After being dunked in a warm, savory & sweet pumpkin batter, it’s fried to golden perfection. While still warm, it is coated in sugar, brûléed, drizzled with warm maple syrup, topped with whipped cream & finished with pumpkin spice + salt. I used Saltverk's black lava salt for a fitting Halloween aesthetic.
