Pomegranate Date Braised Short Ribs
We all love a good red-wine braised short rib. It's a classic that you can't go wrong with. One of my favorite ways to cook is to draw from my own culture and eating experiences and infuse it into the food I make. Growing up in a Persian home shaped my preferences in flavor. One of the most characteristic aspects of our cuisine is the balance of sweet and sour. We love adding aroma through spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and clove and adding brightness with lots of herbs. I channeled these ideas and fused this with a red wine braised short ribs. Pomegranate juice over wine for a hit of extra tart fruitiness and date syrup for sweetness. I served it up with an herb salad for freshness; the result is a perfectly balanced bite with SO MUCH flavor. The dish feels familiar yet unique. Try this out and let me know how you like it!
