Mexican Hot Chocolate Churros
Churros are edible nostalgia for me. There was a period of my childhood where it was the only sweet treat I craved. Most typically I enjoyed them hot out of the fryer then coated in a simple mix of cinnamon & sugar. This recipe takes that childhood nostalgia & gives it a refined, adult edge. Classic churros paired with a rich & spicy Mexican hot chocolate-inspired sauce. There's chipotle chili powder, cinnamon powder & my personal favorite, espresso powder, which enhances the flavor of chocolate. You get a little bit of everything in each bite: crunch, heat, sweetness & savory undertones. How many of these churros could you devour? I'm personally embarrassed to answer.
