Lentil Rice with Dates and Caramelized Onions
Persian cuisine features an endless variety of flavored rice dishes, each special in their own right. One of my favorites is adas polo, or "lentil rice", a this itself can be enjoyed numerous ways. I love to eat it with piaz (caramelized onions), and khorma (dates) to introduce some sweet-savory-salty goodness. All this simple meal is a dollop of yogurt for creamy tartness and a sprinkle of almond slivers for texture and you have a perfect bite! All done in under an hour!
