Pen patat is a traditional Haitian dessert that you must have on your table for the holidays.It is s a delicious Haitian dessert that is made with grated Japanese potatoes, fresh Caribbean spices, and rum. It is a preferred dessert in Haiti and is often served during holidays and special occasions. This recipe is easy to follow, however it takes a bit of effort. In Haitian cuisine we use fresh ingredients for example, we prefer to make our coconut milk rather than canned coconut milk and yes there is a big difference in flavor! For this recipe i used a specific canned of coconut milk, i couldn't find any whole coconut. I highly recommend using the whole coconut instead if possible. This cooking process for this recipe starts out with cooking it on your stove top and finishing in the oven.
