Basic Sourdough Bread
This is a Basic Sourdough Bread recipe which can be modified by adding other things to it so be sure to check out my other Sourdough Bread Recipes. Sourdough Bread is by far healthier than store bought bread as there is no added sugar and no commercial yeast is used. So what is it made of then if yeast isn't used? The answer is a Sourdough Starter which is a live fermented culture. I started my Sourdough Bread Journey back in 2018 and I had to learn a lot and I will be sharing it all with you so you don't have to go thru all the trials and errors. When I first was going to start making Sourdough bread I did a lot of YouTube watching and this one was the best that I had found https://youtu.be/2FVfJTGpXnU . He is briliant as he explains how to make your very own Starter (culture). TIP: Make your Starter with German Rye Flour as it seems to be the best flour for this and once you got it to the point where you can start using it, on that last feed, place it into the fridge as this way you don't need to feed it daily and you can leave it up to 2 weeks before you have to feed it again. Take your starter out of the fridge first thing in the morning if your place isn't too cold at the time, if your place is very cold then take it out the night before. If you took it out in the morning you can generally start using your starter between 1-3 hours later, it generally depends on how warm it is in your place. The Recipe for the Sourdough bread is the recipe he shares in the video except I modified it and made it my own which has helped my Sourdough Bread stay fresher and healthier. So let's get into how I make my Sourdough Bread.
