jollof-rice-with-crispy-chicken

Let me tell you a story. I was the saffron chicken when I realized that no meal truly hits like chicken and rice does. I thought about the fact that when I’m absolutely starving, it’s what I crave, a meal that’s easy to eat huge portions of and will never let me down. This got the gears grinding. The next night I went out to an Indian restaurant with a friend where we ordered this FIRE chicken biryani. I thought to myself, “I need to make a video on this”, as I ate it. The biryani brought me back to the thoughts I experienced the night before until I connected the dots. Chicken and rice exists almost across every single culture; each cuisine has their own special version of this commonly eaten food, and it’s time I took a deeper dive into that world. Introducing my new series, Chicken and Rice Around the World, where I explore the world through, you guessed it, chicken and rice. I am on a mission to find the greatest version, if such even exists. We travel first to Nigeria, where we experience Jollof Rice. It’s commonly served at parties, and has risen in popularity over the past year with good reason. The rice is simmered in a tomato and pepper-based sauce–it’s fragrant, spicy, and bursting with flavor. I served it with some succulent, crispy chicken to create the perfect meal. I can see this dish taking it all the way in the series–my rating was a 9.2/10.
