As you may already know, I love a good fusion & this creation is unreal: general tso’s mac’n’cheese with a togarashi panko crust. To fully enjoy its novelty, let's break down the tasty elements. Like all of my mac'n'cheese recipes, it starts with a simple roux, cooked until slightly toasted. This always enhances the flavor & ensures you don't get a 'flour-forward' cheese sauce. The cheese sauce is a combination of cheddar, parmesan & gooey mozzarella that pairs perfectly with the star of the show, general tso’s chicken. For this recipe, I used InnovAsian's pre-packaged frozen meal but feel free to substitute with an order from your favorite Chinese restaurant. Once it's mixed together with curly cavatappi noodles, it's baked while you prepare the piece de resistance, the togarashi panko crust. Lightly toast panko in a pan until slightly browned. Togarashi, garlic powder & parmesan are added to level up the panko from basic to ungodly delicious. I say '5 servings' but do with that what you will. This is a judgment-free zone.
