Mexican hot chocolate but make it Hong Kong French Toast! If you’re unfamiliar with Mexican hot chocolate, it adds extra oomph to the household favorite via the addition of warm spices, like cinnamon & chili powder. This rendition of HKFT starts with a simple stuffing of chocolate pieces & aleppo pepper –– feel free to substitute with red pepper flakes or chili powder. I personally prefer aleppo as it is milder & has fruity undertones. Once stuffed & stacked high, it is dunked in a spiced-horchata batter then fried to golden perfection. After coating in a spiced sugar & bruleeing, the HKFT is drizzled with a 3-ingredient horchata glaze. The recipe makes one 3 to 4 stack french toast –– it can be shared between two but quite honestly, I devour the entire thing myself. If you would like to order the special tools needed for the recipe, I've included them below –– torch: https://amzn.to/3LWket5 (https://amzn.to/3LWket5)
